Public API, CLI & MCP Server

Vincenzo Ruggiero
New feature
Balzac now has a full REST API so you can integrate it into your own workflows and tools.

Manage everything programmatically: articles, keywords, suggestions, briefings, competitors, links, tones of voice, workspaces, integrations, and settings.

We also ship a CLI and an MCP server for AI agents, so you (or your AI tools) can interact with Balzac directly from the terminal or from any MCP-compatible assistant.

Get started from Settings > API Keys, where you'll find setup links for both the CLI and MCP server.

Reports

Vincenzo Ruggiero
New feature
The Reports page got a major upgrade. Instead of a single view, reports are now organized into three tabs:

1. Search Performance (GSC)
If you've connected Google Search Console, you'll see your clicks, impressions, CTR, and position trends over time, along with your top-performing queries.

2. Content
See a breakdown of your articles by type (listicles, how-to guides, editorials, etc.) to understand the shape of your content library.

3. Keywords
Three charts that give you a clear picture of your keyword strategy:

  • Coverage: how many of your keywords have matching articles vs. how many are uncovered
  • Search Intent: distribution across informational, commercial, transactional, and navigational
  • Difficulty: how your keywords spread across easy, medium, and hard competition levels

Google Search Console Integration

Vincenzo Ruggiero
New feature
Balzac now connects to your Google Search Console to bring real search data into your content workflow.
Once connected, Balzac automatically syncs your search performance data and enriches your keywords with real clicks, impressions, CTR, and average position from Google, so you can see exactly how your content is performing in search results.

But the best part? Balzac uses this data to find content opportunities for you. It detects keywords where you're close to ranking (low-hanging fruit) and topics where you're getting impressions but have no content yet (content gaps), then automatically creates suggestions for them. These suggestions are marked with a GSC Insight badge so you know they come from real search data.

How to connect

  1. Go to Settings > Integrations
  2. Click Connect with Google on the Google Search Console card
  3. Select your website
  4. Balzac starts syncing immediately
The integration is currently in beta while we complete Google's verification process. Your data is read-only — Balzac never modifies anything in your Search Console.

Cover Images Improvements

Vincenzo Ruggiero
Improvement
You can now choose between three distinct modes for your article cover images: Title Overlay, Stock Photo, and AI Generated.

Title Overlay

Your article title is beautifully rendered on top of an AI-generated artistic background. Balzac automatically picks the best visual style: sketch, watercolor, or illustration, based on your article's topic.

Customize it with:
  • Brand color: auto-detected from your website, or set it manually
  • Font: choose from 5 handpicked fonts (Montserrat, Playfair Display, Poppins, Lora, Oswald)

Stock Photo

Balzac automatically finds a relevant photo from Unsplash based on your article's content. No more searching for the right image, it's done for you.

AI Generated

The AI image styles you already know (photorealistic, digital art, etc.) are still here, now clearly grouped under their own option.

Per-article override

Need a different style for a specific article? Click Re-generate on any article and pick a different mode or tweak the settings, without changing your workspace defaults.
Find all these options under Settings > Pictures.

Generate More Keywords with AI

Vincenzo Ruggiero
Improvement
You can now generate new keyword ideas on demand directly from the Keywords page.

Click the Generate more keywords button in the keywords settings and Balzac will analyze your workspace context, your existing keywords, business description, audience, and competitors. It will then generate approximately 10 new relevant keywords.

This is useful when you've exhausted your initial keyword list and want fresh ideas without having to brainstorm manually.
Your account's keyword limit (based on your plan) is now displayed as a progress bar at the top of the Keywords page, so you always know how much room you have left.

Custom Briefings

Vincenzo Ruggiero
New feature
You can now create your own briefings to tell Balzac exactly what you want to write about.
So, instead of waiting for Balzac to suggest topics, you can now proactively request content that matches your business needs, campaigns, or audience questions.
No more waiting for the right topic suggestion ;)

Discover this new feature in video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SF3yolgcbpQ

2 Ways to get content:

  1. AI-Generated suggestions: Balzac continues to analyze your keywords and automatically suggests relevant topics
  2. Custom requests: Create briefings for specific content you need, when you need it
When you create a custom briefing, it's automatically accepted and moves straight into Balzac's writing queue. No approval needed.

This is perfect for:

  • Product launches: Get supporting content when you need it
  • Trending topics: Capitalize on industry trends immediately
  • Audience questions: Turn customer inquiries into valuable content
  • Creative ideas: Be creative with Balzac - surprise us with your unique requests ;)

  2. Submit a topic in the top field
  3. Describe what you want Balzac to write about
  4. Submit and watch Balzac get to work immediately
